A letter from the Co-Directors:
Dear prospective attendees,
Our names are Trisha-mae Capistrano, Gabriel Yun, and Isaiah Flores, and we are pleased to be your co-directors for the One World One Heart 2020 conference. On behalf of our team leaders and teacher sponsors, we would like to formally invite you to attend this year’s social justice conference, which is to be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Vancouver College.
Every year, OWOH brings high school students from all across the Lower Mainland to take part in thought-provoking activities that are intended to educate them on social inequalities and empower them to find ways to actively combat them. The theme of the conference this year is "Actions Speak Louder Than Words”. Even if many of us know of the existence of the several injustices in our society and voice our opinions about them to our peers, many of us are not compelled to take action. Keeping in with its theme, OWOH 2020 will only offer completely interactive workshops that will give participants a genuine understanding of anti-oppression, migrant justice, and anti-racism, as well as a social justice action toolkit to take effective and concrete action on social justice issues they care about.
We genuinely hope that the workshops you attend will empower you to become advocates for social justice, and compel you to want to take action whenever you recognize an inequality taking place.
Together with our team of 12 dedicated leaders, we cannot wait to welcome everyone to our conference. We have an eventful day planned with games, a volunteer fair, and lots of prizes waiting for you. Should you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via email at [email protected].
We look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
Trisha-mae Capistrano, Gabriel Yun, and Isaiah Flores
